Using Windows Image Acquisition to acquire a digital image

I am trying to automate image acquisition from a Nikon D40 SLR and to do so I want to use the "take a new picture" function of the Windows Image Acquisition tool, has anybody done this previously? I have found various forums discussing using the WIA but seem over kill since all I want to do is tell my camera to take a picture.

Hello mmir,

It looks like you are not currently using any NI hardware or software. We do not have any software or hardware that is specifically made to work with digital SLR cameras, and we definitely do not have anything to offer that would help you use the Windows Image Acquisition tool. If the Windows Image Acquisition tool has a library that can be called programmatically, this would probably be the way to go.
