VBAI: Reference Coordinate System problem

Solved!
Go to solution

In a step of my VB AI application, I'm successfully setting a coordinate system to the center of a circular object.  In the next step, I do a "Find Circular Edge", with "Reposition Region of Interest" set to that found coordinate system.

However, when the object moves, and the coordinate system with it, Find Circular Edge doesn't follow that coordinate system, but instead stays fixed in space.

What do I need to do to have Find Circular Edge move around with the coordinate system?

Not sure why it's not working...

Would you mind attaching 2 images and your inspection so we can identify the problem?

Sure.  An image is attached.  As for the project itself, how do I save an inspection to a local computer when I'm editing it on the camera?  The only option I see under Save As is to save to the Remote Target (the smart camera).

EDIT: I tried saving locally by "save as a template". I now have the template on my compuate, but the forum won't allow ".vbait" files to be uploaded.

Make sure that when you configured the coordinate system step, you have it update in the X and Y direction. By default it just updates in the X direction, and even though the overlay shows it updating in both directions, this can be misleading. If this isn't the problem, can you include a simple inspection with some images to illustrate how you got into this state.

Thanks,

Brad

That's it, Brad!  Thanks.  You are right, that overlay was misleading.  It now seems to work fine after setting both X and Y.  Thanks again.

Although I still don't know how to save the inspection locally, when developing on the camera.

When developing on a smart camera or other Real Time target, you can transfer the inspections from target to PC or vice versa by following these steps:

1. Connect to target and go to Configuration Mode.

2. In the menu options, go to Target>>Add/Retrieve Inspections and there you will have a dialog to let you transfer inspections to or from the target.

Hope that helps,

Brad
