What are your dreams about IMAQ?

Hi,
Many of those who rely on IMAQ on daily basis had recurring ideas in terms of "What if IMAQ could've done....". National Instruments provides suggesstion center for receiving our wishes and figuring out the most demanded and valuable ones to implement in the next version. in this thread , everyone is invited (including the NI application engineers Smiley Very Happy) to list what functionalities you fancy in IMAQ.

Hi Muke,
I believe you heared  that IMAQ 8.6 release has the new feature of handling unsigned 16 bits images.

Speaking on behalf myself here is my List of wishes:
  • Royalty Free Deployment so my customers don't expose my technology Smiley Very Happy
  • Cease writing "Enhanced Pattern Matching Technique" and writing instead the new implemented algorithm "like fuzzy, neural, markov etc.)
  • Adding flexibility in pattern recognition for colour and grayscale images like method of clustering and feature extraction as it exists for bimary pattern matching and OCR.
  •  having addins for neural nets and other AI techniques so that developers could implement themselves new papers published.

IMAQ team did great job so far in maintaining relaible Image Processing with less time consumption among opponents, this makes IMAQ the first choice for industrial applications. By having the above wishes, IMAQ would take its way towards academic research ( or my immagination keeps visualize that in my brain.)

I hope we get here more and more suggesstions so public tendency would be delivered to IMAQ team.

That is a nice suggestion and also mask and extract region  using different shapes instead of rectangle.

What NI should wprk on is to perform more videos in regard to demonstrate how to use efficiently IMAQ. most of the interest of NI team goes to LABVIEW. But IMAQ is a very unique tool and worth the effort of exposing that to general awareness. wecasts is a very quick and reachable way to do such a task.

and you are very correct muks about the ability to select irregular shapes of ROI . this would expand IMAQ to deal with features like face detection and IRIS recognition. (I don't know why people don't try to invoke IMAQ in such apps.)

Event though IMAQ supports FFT transform, many transforms are now very important as much as that, like Discrete Cosine Transform, Wavelet Transform and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) . I'm aware that NI won't be able to generate all the algorithms on daily basis, but it might be a good idea to design a sort of "framework" that enables other third party companies to add more functionalities to the IMAQ functions and sold as add ins.

For a particular application i was in need of "Hough transform".That if included will be welcome addition.I hope you will also agree.

These are all great suggestions - as VBCoder mentioned there is a suggestion center you can submit these to: Product Suggestion Center

Please feel free to submit your suggestions.
