Whole image on CVS is alternating colored lines

I am using a CVS 1454 with VBAI 2009 and a AVT Guppy F036C and Basler A601F to aquire 2 images of a part in our process. Occasionally I am failing parts due to a corrupted image from the Guppy camera. About 1 every 20-30 minutes. There appears to be no pattern to the frequency this happens. The inspection is taking place every 2.5 seconds. I have attached a JPG of what I get for an image. I was wondering if anyone else has encounter an image from their camera similar to what I am seeing and if so do you have any pointers as to what to try to resolve this.

Guppy settings in MAX:

Format 7 Mode 0

752x480

Bayer 8 BGBG-GRGR

Packet 2048

Basler settings in MAX:

640x480 Mono 8 30fps

Packet 1280

No settings for these camera were done from vision builder. All settings done from MAX.

Thanks,

Mark

Does this happen if you only have the AVT plugged into the CVS? If it doesn't happen with just the AVT, you could try using an externally powered 1394 hub to ensure the cameras are getting enough power. I think the CVS specs 15W of power, but if the two cameras have power spikes when they are both acquiring and those spikes happen at the same time periodically every 30min or so, the AVT may get in a bad state if it doesn't have enough power. Using an externally powered hub that can supply more power may fix this if this is the problem.

Hope this helps,

Brad

I was able to test the system with just the AVT connected and did not get any corrupted images. I am a bit skeptical that the power supply is the issue since both the Basler and AVT are rated at less than 2 watts of power consumption each but I will need to get a firewire hub and test with that to see if my problem is corrected.

I will let you know how I make out.

Thanks for the suggestion

I think I have corrected this problem. It appears to be part of another issue I dealt with on the AVT camera.

I was also having an image brightness problem similar to the following post. http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=200&message.id=25208&query.id=1059306

I set the gamma to "OFF" not zero to fix the image brightness problem and since then there have been no further corrupted images.
