avi to imaq images

Hi all,
I am currently working on a research project, in which we need to compare a series of images acquired from a camera.Since we do not have enough funds to buy frame grabber cards and an ordinary digital camera/webcam will do, we have been thinking of getting the images in a movie format and then try and break them into seperate images based on the frame rate(hope I am not confusing everyone!!!)so that they can be processed in IMAQ.The real problem is I am not sure if this is possible, bcoz I haven't found enough encouraging things abt this.I would really appreciate if someone has any idea/experience abt this kind of work and is willing to share with me.
Thanking You in advance
Deepak

Hello Deepak. There is an example program on the Developer Zone that reads AVI files into IMAQ Image files. It is called IMAQ AVI Read Write Example and can be found by typing that name into the ni.com search field.

Deepak,

As Kyle says, it can be done using the example he mentions.

I don't know what kind of analysis you are doing, but I wonder if the image compression in the AVI file will make the analysis difficult if not impossible. Image compression routines are typically optimized to preserve the way an image looks. The image may look almost identical to the original, but there can be significant differences from an analysis point of view.
