camera triggering timeout

My customer needs a method of changing the timeout function in IMAQ when changing camera mode between Freerun mode and Triggered mode (does not matter which trigger method).

In VI mode it appears there is a built in function of the Grab Image.vi that timesout if it does not see a trigger.  This is fine for development phase.  However, if I run the same program as an executable it appears the program goes into an infiinite loop and the program basically freezes waiting for a trigger.  I'm assuming this topic has come up in the in past but I'm not sure how or what people did to work around this.  I'll try a few things but anything would be helpful if you can provide some idea's and thoughts.

as for the software I have a basic camera grab function and a couple of attribute modificaitons that allows the user to change triggering modes and update some of the exposure and gain settings.  Best I can see the Grab Vi does not have a timeout option so I might not be able to use it....but let me know.

thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Does your program seem to work correctly in the development environment? Is it timing out with an error message when you run the executable or just freezing?

I think we'll get a better picture if you could post a snippet of the VI you are referring to if possible.

Best regards,
