color matching in a certain surface area and counting different colors

hi

I'm new to this software designing program and i have been required by my instructor to perform image capture with color matching and counting how many different colors are there in the area that i'm viewing through my regular usb web cam, i don't know if this make sense to u guys but i have to perform the counting of different colored objects in a certain area viewed by my webcam. Please anyone who wants to help send me an exact block diagram of how i can design this application.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Thank you.

Hello,

Do you have the Vision Development Module? If so, you could use the 'Color Location' step in the Vision Assistant to find the locations of a specific color in the image. If not, please let us know what software you do have.

I would recommend using the Vision Assistant to help you out, especially as you are pressed for time. Open up Vision Assistant and open a new script. At the top right, click on 'Acquire Images' to choose your image source. When you have the image that you want to process, click on the 'Process Images' option at the top right. Here, click on the 'Color' tab on the left and choose the Color Location step. In this step, you can create a template for the color that you want to detect and choose the maximum number of matches you want to find.

This is just one way to go about it. In the Vision Assistant, you can play around with pattern matching and thresholding to do what you would like. I hope this helps.
