Hello everyone,
I am working on a mini project in which i have to find the following two results
1. To find the chakiness area present in the rice along with the total area of the rice grain
2. To find the length and breadth of rice grain
Here i have attached a program which i have tried to find the chakiness of the rice but i am facing the problem in finding the area of that chakiness area and the rice area. (i have tried by using draw ROI pallete but didint get the result)
Please help me out with the solution.

It all starts with a good sample image. Don't see how you are going to be able to analyze a plie of rice. It you can seperate and put on a black background you will significantly make your project easier. Bad data in = bad data out.

Chalkiness. You cannot do it with the rice in a pile. That much is certain. You can try singulating the rice by dumping it across the field of view of a camera using a conveyor. You will need to strobe a bright illumination source, and set a very short integration time on a camera with a fairly high frame rate. Some of the Basler ACE cameras can get above 100fps for very little $$$.
You won't be able to do 100% inspection, even under the best conditions, so don't waste effort on goals like that.

I have tried taking the image of an rice grain but couldnt get the clear image of an chakiness present in the rice.
Could you please suggest me the ni camera which can capture the clear image of an rice including the chakiness.

No, resolution is too low. Always use BMP files because they are uncompressed. You will need to use an industrial USB / Ethernet camera. Web cameras are to low of quality for image processing. Hope this helps.
Lighting is very important. Try an experiment with backlighting and I think you will see better contrast. White is not the only color. You may find that red or blue work better. Work with a good camera / lighting supplier and they can run some initial experiments for you. Advance Illumination or 1st Vision are good resources.

Right now i am not having camera with good resolution and I am having very less time to show my output.
Atleast i need to show the steps or program which i can carry further when we will receive the NI camera.
Would u please help me with the steps of programming to find both the areas.
On the same image i have tried programming by changing the colour of background and image. because of this the inner chakiness part is quite visible.
Sorry my labview file is not getting attached.

Lighting is more inportant than your camera in this case. Read all 3 parts so you can understand how to properly backlight an product for inspection.
