Did you mean:

saving a sequence of images. once acquired, most images are lost after pressing save

I can acquire a sequence of images, but when trying to save them , most of them are destroyed after clicking "save"   Does anyone have any advice?   I am using the PCI-1409 card on a windows XP machine.

Thanks,

Jonny

Did you set up a different buffer for each image to be stored in?  If you use the same buffer for all the images, only the last one will be stored.

Bruce is correct.  Additionally, if you are acquiring in MAX the Save button will only save the last image.

To save images into an .avi format, try the "Grab and save to .avi" or "Sequence and save to .avi" example programs that ship with LabVIEW.  They can be found at "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\IMAQ\IMAQ file IO.llb"

Hope this helps,

Thanks for responding to this post.  I'm not sure how to set up separate buffers but I do notice that it is not only the last image that gets saved.  If for example I try to save 10 images, around 6 random images will not get saved.  In their place I end up with 250 x 30 white rectangle in the file............if this is related to setting up new buffers could you quickly explain how to do that?

Thanks again for your help,

Jonathan

How about giving us more detail on how you are acquiring and saving the images?  Posting an example would be very useful.  It is probably a simple fix, but I can't figure it out based on the information I have.

Right now I am both acquiring and saving the images using NI Vision Assistant 7.0.  I acquire the images using the "Sequence acquisition" function, and save the images by clicking "save all" in the image browser.  Again, the images are viewable after they are acquired but most of them disappear after/during  saving.

If I try to save an individual image it too will disappear but only about 20% of the time.

This problem also occurs if I were to load images to Vision Assistant, modify them, and then re-save.

Lastly, saving images to a .avi file (in this case not using Vision Assitant) worked very well.

Thanks for the help,

Jonny

I made the assumption that you were doing the acquisition in LabVIEW.  It sounds like a bug in Vision Assistant, and I don't have an answer for you on that.

Hi Bruce,

Sorry for not being clear about that, but thanks for your help anyways.  I started a new (and hopefully clearer) thread, but if you know of anyone who has experience with Vision Assistant I would like to question him about this problem.

Thanks again,

Jonathan
