triggering PCIe-1429 using DAQ card 6024e

Dear All,

I am using PCIe-1429 framegrabber to acquire images from photonfocus camera at 1000 fps. I am using LL sequence to acquire the images. Now i want to synchronize the acquisition with an event. The event is a 60 Hz ramp motion of a translation stage, which is controlled by DAQ 6024e. I want the camera to start acquiring when the ramp motion starts and stop when the ramp motion stops.

I think i have to trigger the camera to do the same. I am not sure how to do it. My plan is feed in the Digital output signal from the DAQ card to the SMB port of the PCIe-1429. This digital output signal if synchronized with the Analog output from the DAQ card to the translation stage, then the acquisition and the event is synchronized. Is it possible to do like this?

Also, the problem is that the digital output from 6024e is 1V max and PCIe-1429 needs 5V. Can i use the analog output of 6024e as a trigger pulse. What are the limits to it?

If anyone has better idea, please do suggest.

Looking forward to hear helpful suggestions and ideas.

Thank you very much

Kind regards

Shiju

Hi Shiju,

The best solution for this application is to connect the two cards via the RTSI connector.  You can then route your pulse out the RTSI connector of the 6024e and into the PCIe-1429.  This allows the interboard connection to be inside of the PC, and will avoid any signalling level issues.

Hi Jeff,

thank you very much for the reply.

Would i be able to generate 5V pulse from a digital output of PCI-6024e.

thank you very much

kind regards

Yes, the RTSI bus is a 5V bus.
