Hi,

If you check your C:\Program Files (x86)\cameralink\serial folder, there should be the DLL, import library, and header. The documentation is pretty much all in the header from what I can recall.

Eric - Thank you for the insight from an outside professional!

dorkxer - My thoughts exactly.  All I want to do is get a 'gcp' command response from a Dalsa Piranha II, which is more like a page of information, not just an attribute string or smaller reply. Since my original post, I've found and used the Camera File Generator, and I don't think I'm able to see a response more than a limited set of characters (I could be wrong, but it shouldn't be this difficult to get a hyperterminal type command/response window).  If getting that type of functionality requires end users to build a custom app, and we are not the only techies trying to get this functionality, then maybe NI should build an app themselves for public distribution in support of their IMAQ products.

Let us know if you are able to get clallserial working for this, or find another solution.

John B. - What is the process if someone wanted to request that NI provide this funtionality?

Thanks all,

Dan

Dan,

That is exactlly what I am trying to do as well. Send "gcp" to a Dalsa Piranha II! That is a chuckle. I agree with your stance on the remaining issues. It would be great if there was a simple hyperterminal style program from NI. I have tried something they have that is no longer supported that is a command line utility. However, every command I try to execute is meet with and error. I forget what the program is exactly though. I will have to get back to you.

You can request this functionality by posting on the LabVIEW Idea Exchange. Our developers and R&D staff take a look at those posts, and some of the top-kudoed requests get implemented in LabVIEW. There is no separate forum for the Vision drivers, but with the appropriate tags and title you should be able to get the attention of the right people.
