I recently upgraded PCs used in product inspection using Vision Builder from XP to Win 7 Pro 64.  We also upgraded Vision Builder from v2.5 to v2014 SP1.  We had problems with the Sony FireWire camera.  The solution we found was to choose the legacy IEE1394 driver that is resident within Win 7,  The driver automatically installed was unstable but we have had no problems with the legacy driver.

Hi Brad,

Thank you for the feedback on this issue with the Firewire driver. I will pass it along to our R&D department. Windows 7 has limited support for Firewire, and even less so on Windows 8/8.1. I would recommend USB3 or GigE if you get the chance to update your cameras.
