Magtrol 6530

Has anyone ever used Measure together with a NI GPIB-USB and a Magtrol 6530 power analyzer?
How do I configure an Input task to measure current, voltage and power?

Hi Skurka,

In order to use Measure with the Magtrol analyzer, you will first need to configure the device.  I am not sure how far you have gotten with this, but your GPIB-USB device should come with Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) which should allow you to do the configuration steps.  You can also test communication in MAX by sending device specific commands to the analyzer.

To capture data in a task in Measure, click on 'New Capture' and give the task a name, such as "read".  Under 'Transmit this command string', you will need to enter a device specific command that reads data from the analyzer.  To figure out what commands will work, you will need to consult the manual for the Magtrol 6530 power analyzer.  Fill in the other variables (range, end of string comand, etc), you should also consult the device manual.

The version of Excel that you are running also plays a factor in running Measure.  If you have Excel 2003, you will need to install the VBA converter pack from Microsoft.  As of yet, Excel 2007 does not work with Measure, although we are looking into this.

I hope this helps get you started.  For more information, I recommend taking a look at the Help guide supplied with Measure.
