Anyone have a workaround for the failure if N-IMAQ on .NET 4?

This shows the failure C# source and this NI's statement it has no workaround issue - is there anyone here who does have a workaround? Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your post. Currently the latest version of the Vision Acquisition Software which is essentially IMAQdx only supports Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2005 and 2008: https://download.ni.com/support/softlib/vision/Vision%20Acquisition%20Software/September2011f1/Visio...

Support for .NET 4.0 is something that we are definitely interested in and will be working to incorporate into future versions of the software. Here is a link to the Idea Exchange page where there are a lot of users interested in this feature:

Thans Mahdieh , but that's specifically about LabVIEW whereas this topic is about NI-IMAQ. I am not using LabVIEW.

Yes, you are right that it is just for LabVIEW Chris and I was aware of this when I sent you the link. As the majority of our users have access to LabVIEW there is usually more momentum behind these ideas. IMAQ and IMAQdx are both drivers that work with LabVIEW as well so if .NET 4 support is included in LabVIEW it will in turn be added to the drivers over time too.

If you want, you can make a New Idea yourself on this forum that is specific to your application.

All the best,

The forum has no section that allows NI-IMAQ ideas, so I filed mine as a MAX idea here: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Additional-NI-Software-Idea/Please-update-Vision-Acquisition-Software-to-be-...

Thanks.

Hello ChrisJJ, No solution here but I've just spent several hours with downloading drivers and trying to get my code running. It just never occurred to me that NI didn't bother to upgrade the ImaqDx to .Net4 since all the other drivers of NI that I use work just fine. For me this is a showstopper. I'm not going to try to use a workaround with .Net 3.5 I'm also very disappointed by the reply form Mahdieh G. Usually NI seems to care about developers. Fortunately since I’m using a GigE camera I’m just going to use drivers form a different vendor. Sjoerd

Sjoerd, what I've found suggest the incomaptibility of VAS 2011 with .NET4 is only in the inslaler and Help. The workaround http://forums.ni.com/t5/Additional-NI-Software-Idea/Please-update-Vision-Acquisition-Software-to-be-... is proving fine here.
