I need to understand what I have and how to use it.

Hello,

I have NI Vision v. 8.0, Measurement Studio for .Net v.7.1. These have been sitting on the shelf for some time, we paid $5,000 for this pakage. Our current vision system is Cognex DVT Intellect. They are phasing out their Intellect software, so we need to move on. We desire a powerful, easy to use vision system. Seeing as how our Siemens software is not compatible with .NET, it seems as if this package is not goning to work (we still use VB 6.0). We are interested in spending some money at National Instruments, so I would like some direction as to what we should upgrade to.

We are in the aerospace industry and tend to push the limits of what a vision system can do, not just your typical part identification.

Hi Nighthawx!

NI-Vision has been used in countless industries, including aerospace, so it is likely you will find NI-Vision to be useful.  If you haven't seen the NI Vision homepage, I would recommend taking a look. If you are looking to ensure that NI-Vision is right for your specific application, I would recommend calling our sales department.  They will be able to answer many of your questions as well as provide price quotes for packages.

Vision software is compatible with LabVIEW, C/C++, Visual Basic, and .NET.  I would recommend LabVIEW for ease-of-use.  Of course, I am a bit biased!  I hope this helps!
