Measurement Studio Visual C++ .NET Update does not recognize existence of Visual Studio .NET

I just received the update CD for Measurement Studio for Visual C++ .NET. I only have the Visual C++ .NET component of Visual Studio installed. However the MS update does not install with the error message that I need Visual Studio .NET installed before MS will install. How do I get it to recognize the presence of the Visual C++ .NET distribution. I'm running XP, and have had Visual C++ .NET installed and run for quite some time.

Thanks

Hello,

I don't have an immediate answer but several questions that might help us pinpoint the problem:
What version of VC++ .NET do you have, 2002 or 2003? Do you have .NET Framework installed? What version? What errors does the installer return exactly? Do you have screenshots?

Thanks,
Azucena

The Measurement Studio update for Visual C++ .NET should install if you have Measurement Studio 6.0 and only Visual C++ .NET 2002 is installed. Are you running Visual C++ .NET 2003?

Yes, I am running Visual C++ .NET 2003. Is there a way to install it on the 2003 version ?

Thanks,

This product (MStudio for VC++ .NET 2003) is in beta right now. If you want to test the beta software, you can sign in at http://www.ni.com/beta and email mstudio.beta@ni.com to request the software.

I have the newest version NI Developer Suite on a PXI 1010 chassis, Win XP controller and was starting to install MS Visual C++ .Net (without Visual Studio etc. on it). It appears to want to modify the original files installed by NI on this controller and I am somewhat reluctant to do that given that I don't know what .NET is going to do to my legacy files in both Labview and Labwindows. Based on the above email what is NI point of view on this issue? Go ahead and install it or stick with an older C++ non .Net version. I do not want .NET screwing up my existing files.

Thanks
Marvin
