Measurement Studio and Clickonce, nianlys.dll

As was noted in this post (http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=232&message.id=4341&requireLogin=False) there is an incompatibility between the Measurement Studio Analysis library and .net 2005's Clickonce publishing system.

We find ourselves in the same situation as the previous user, and would like to know if any progress has been made on the "bootstrapper" installer, or if such an installer is yet available.

Thanks for your support,

Hello

ClickOnce support is something we are looking into fully supporting for the future. But as of today, we do not have a bootstapper installer available for analysis.
Sorry for the inconvienience.

I just ran across this same problem and thought I would add my $0.02.  Being able to deploy applications using pure ClickOnce would be fantastic but a reasonable compromise would be a ready made bootstrap package.

I am just going to roll my own unless you guys already have something ready...

Hi Jonathan,

We still don't have full support for Click-Once as of Measurement Studio 8.1.1. We have only had a few people request that feature so right now there isn't enough interest to justify R&D effort. With that said though, I have added your request to our master list so we can keep a look out.  Thanks for the post.

Best Regards,

Has any more progress been made on this issue, perhaps with Measurement Studio 2009?

We got burned the other day by this after adding a reference to analysis and updating our clickonce application with 20 hours of our application being unavailable to the customer (very cryptic error message occurs when the depedencies required by analysis are not available), and then scrambling to find alternatives to all the places we used analysis...

Irwin22 -

No progress was made on this issue in Measurement Studio 2009.

Would having a bootstrapper installer work for your use case, or would you need the analysis library to be purely managed?

A fully managed solution would work best for us - we've used bootstrappers in the past but have found them somewhat cumbersome.

I'm sorry to say that a fully managed solution is not going to happen in the short-to-mid term.

The NI analysis library utilizes 3rd-party, high-performance, processor-specific unmanaged libraries. This is necessary to meet the peformance requirements of a predominance of NI customers.

In the long-term, it is possible that NI will provide fully-managed analysis libraries, but you should not make any plans around this.

I'll add you to the list of requestors for Measurement Studio Click-Once support via bootstrapper (even though this isn't ideal for your case).

Thanks for your feedback.
