Programming difference between PCI and PCIe GPIB

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I'm gonna buy a GPIB Card. Now I was wondering if I could replace a PCI Card with a PCIe Card without changing my Program.

I was thinking about it because I think that the PCI Slot won't be supported as long as PCIe and when the PCI Card gets broken I don't want to program a new Software Smiley Tongue

Best regards

Hi Tim,

You don't have to change your applications by upgrading from PCI to PCIe. Look at the link under Architecture. I also attached a screenshot from the important part. PCI is a standard and NI follow the conditions of this standard.

So you can use your PCI card until it is broken or you buy an new one now. This is your decission. Perhaps the PCIe features are necessary for you.
