I uploaded the file to  ftp://ftp.ni.com/outgoing. It is named NI-License-Manager-3.7.zip. The file will be kept on this website for another 48hr, and then it will be removed.

I am having the same EXACT problem. NI, it would be GREAT if you leave this NI License Manager up for download. It seems like for whatever reason this is seeming to be a not so random event.

To add some more information from at least my experience, I ran the NI update after getting the email about the Active X. That failed, so I ran the security update from the source in the email and it seemed to run fine, but when I came back to rebuild my solution I got unlicensed errors. Any measurement studio menu button I click on Visual Studios gives me the nilmclient.dll error...

Hey Stingray,

Have you verified your NiDAQmx installation? My measurement studio issues were fixed after I installed NiDAQmx (this is the module that I am working with, you may need to install/upgrade other device drivers)

Yesterday, before reinstalling NI-DAQmx drivers, I wasnt even able to launch MAX. Now everything works fine 🙂

So I just got the 3.7 download, and after running that I can now build my project successfully. I can also open the measurement studio menu buttons within Visual Studio.

I am still having the update problem though. It is taking me a step further and showing me available updates, however if I try to proceed with an update, I get an error stating I need to reboot and try again or contact NI.

Hi StingRay,

Are you using the NI Security Update Tool Q2 2013, or NI Update Service? Did you install an update for Measurement Studio along with the security updates?

Because this is related to the security patch, I've sent you my contact information via private message. We can work on this offline to resolve it as soon as possible.

I guess my information was on my help ticket.

Up until I got the Active X email, everything was building fine and working fine. When I got the email, I opened the NI Update Service... I have never ran the update service before this time. When I ran the service, it crashed during installation of updates. I then remembered an offline installation, so I downloaded that and installed it and received no errors.

Then, fast forward to today when I actually got back in to Visual Studio and tried to build a release. I got several unlicensed errors, so I tried to open the license menu from within Visual Studio and that is when I received the CNiLMResult_IsCheckoutFromServer error.

I entered a help ticket, and tried to follow the person's advice, but that was to do a repair all on the National Instruments installations. Of course that taking a long time we got off the phone and when I tried to call back and waited 5 minutes for somebody else to help me, I decided to do some more searching which led me here.

I've now received Ni LM 3.7 and installed that and can now build my release in Visual Studio, and open the Measurement Studio menu items within Visual Studio.

I still can not run the NI Update Service, so I tried downloading 2.2.5 on your site, and now when I try to install it I get "Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\Update Service. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator."

So in my opinion, this may have all stemmed from the default disc installation of Measurement Studio 2010 and running the update service. There may be more to it, but that was at least the first real problem I encountered in this wonderful journey 🙂

Edit: Darren, I will be out today at 4 PM EST, so I will make an attempt to get in touch with you tomorrow morning.

NI License Manager 3.7 is now available for download again. Updating your system to version 3.7 or later shoud resolve the Measurement Studio issue with nilmClient.dll
