installing .NET app & DAQmx

I am  trying to install a VB (MS/VS2005) app to a computer that will do data acq. The app is compiled to a setup & .msi on

CD. I need to load drivers for the hardware (USB-6008) which uses DAQmx. I have tried to load the drivers from the DAQmx CD, looking for a run-time version. I don't need or want a full development software installed. I get messages saying "MS for VS 2005 Integration not present". It looks like it wants me to install Measurement Studio. I want only a runtime. How do I get this to work?

Walter,

I have a few questions to help clarify the current state of your computer.

1) Can you confirm if the DAQmx drivers appear in Measurement and Automation Explorer (Start->Programs->National Instruments) under "Software".

2) When you installed the drivers from the CD, did you do a typical install or a custom install.

    a) If you did a custom install, do you know if it attempted to install Support for "Visual Studion Integration" under ".NET Framework Languages Support". This requires you to have Measurement Studio installed, so unchecking this option and running the DAQmx installer should install everything correctly.

3) What version of the .NET runtime are you running on your target machine.

Thanks Raj. It looks like #2 was the answer. I did custom because many, many software publishers would just rather have you install everything  by default and I couldn't afford the overhead on this laptop. I thought VS integration was necessary to use compiled VS apps. Apparently it is not.

In the next version of DAQ, we are changing the "Visual Studio Integration" feature tree text to be more explicit in that it requires Measurement Studio. The feature description on the right-hand side of the dialog does indicate this, but its typically overlooked.  Hopefully the new text will help users know ahead of time what is requirements.
