interface a custom .net app with a DAQ device

Hello, I have c# app that currently reads AC frequency from a datafile ever .1 second and plots it on a graph.  I now need a way for my program to use real data from a DAQ device.  We need the aquisition of the frequency to be as close to real time as possible.  We dont have a DAQ device yet or even know which one to get.  Any ideas on the best way for an app to interface with a NI DAQ device?
