null exception creating daq component

Hi Steve,

I am not entirely sure which version of DAQmx was shipped with the February 2008 release.  But judging by the release dates listed for NI-DAQmx on our Drivers and Updates page, it was probably either NI-DAQmx 8.6.1 or 8.7.1. (http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/fn/p/sn/n19:Windows,n23:3478.41/q/ni-daqmx/lang/en)

You can tell which version is installed on your second machine by looking in MAX in the software section.  It is fine unless you have 8.6.0f12.

When you are trying to install the Device Driver CD are you just selecting to install NI-DAQmx, because there are other drivers on there that you may have later versions of.  If you still are having trouble, I would suggest you uninstall NI-DAQmx and then try reinstalling with your later CD.  You can uninstall our software by going to Control Panel>>Add or Remove Programs, and select Change/Remove for National Instruments software, then you can select NI-DAQmx and Remove it.

Let me know if you are still having problems.

Kirsten,

The version shipped on the CD was an earlier version of NI-DAQ. The release page is in error. The CD says August 2007, the banner says August 2007 and the installer says it was earlier than 8.6 Of 12. I confirmed this by calling tech support. I will not uninstall NI-DAQ. I've done that too many times and wasted too much time and money fixing things that get broken.

I received MS 8.5 and I'm installing the drivers which are 8.7.1. I am not reinstalling MS because it has the same version number as the one I am running. I have VS 2005.

Steve
