DAQ install problems

I have a problem installing NI-DAQ on the latest incarnation of my machine.

I have tried two different NI-DAQ 6.9.3 CDs, an NI-DAQ 6.9.1 CD, an NI-DAQ 7
CD and a 6.9.3 installer downloaded some time back. All fail at the end of
the first step (the actual DAQ install) whilst "registering components".

The failure is that a dialog pops up asking for the source CD, and the only
way to get rid of it is to hit "cancel"- pressing "OK" just brings up
another copy of the dialog. I have tried removing and reinserting the CD
without any improvement. The same thing happens if I go into the "nidaq"
directory and run the setup program in there.

The machine is running Windows 2000, sp3. It is quite clean, having been
reformatted and reinstalled today. I am loath
e to reinstall it again since I
have had to reinstall many times over the past few days to iron out a
problem in getting it to boot.

The machine has two drives; a small DiskOnChip (C:) which initially boots
the machine and a larger compactflash microdrive (D:) which holds Windows.

Can anyone help?

Craig,

Since the installation keeps asking for the source CD, which is already in the computer, you could try copying all of the files from the CD onto your computer and running the installer from there. You may have already tried this, but it is another idea. Have you installed NI-DAQ on this computer in the past? It sounds like an interesting setup.

Good luck with your application.

Yes, I tried copying the CD to the hard drive, no luck.

I did have DAQ working on here, but from a nice big hard drive with all the
development stuff on it. I've tried copying the system directory, and the
Program Files/NI directory, to the microdrive and booting it, and although a
little rough around the edges (frequent errors about LVRT not being there) I
have got test panels up and they seem to be working. Once I have development
capability on it again I'll be able to see if everything under the hood is
working.
