How do I read from a GPIB device using Visual Basic?

I am trying to read the power levels of an Agilent power meter and am having trouble getting the date.

Hello Mike,
This forum specializes in our Measurement Studio Tools for Visual Basic (ComponentWorks). If you have this product installed, then I would recommend looking at the examples located at \VB\Samples\Instr. If you are just trying to use direct GPIB calls (ibrd, ibwrt, etc.) then I would suggest looking at the examples located at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-488.2\Languages\Visual Basic. Otherwise it would be helpful if you could provide us with additional information on the problem (are you receiving an error number or message, is the data buffer empty or garbled, what is the problem reading data from the instrument). If you are just using VB to make direct GPIB calls and not Measurement Studio, then you may have a better re
sponse if you post in the Instrument Control >> GPIB group.
