PCI 6624 with MATLAB

I have been using Measurement Studio And VB6 successfully for many years. We are developing a new project with MATLAB (including GUI). MATLAB help indicated that it would interface with ActiveX components. I added a CWCounter successfully but it did not recognize the PCI-6624. With a little research I realized that this board requires an upgrade to Measurement Studio .NET.

I downloaded the MS7.0 trial version and ran some .NET sample code but am uncertain if upgrading will help me since my user interface must be developed in MATLAB. Can this be done? Would it help to use a 6602 instead?

Thanks,
Diane

Hi Diane,

Are you able to configure and use the PCI-6624 in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)? A simple test will be to open a test panel and generate a pulse train. Also, the PCI-6624 will work in Measurement Studio .NET and switching to a 6602 shouldn't make any different.

The National Instruments DAQ drivers do not officially support the MATLAB interface and no testing has been done with MATLAB. Here is are the location of some ANSI C Examples that could help you: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples\DAQmx ANSI C\Counter.

Trying again. Yes, the board is installed properly and recognized. I was successful in running some .net examples as well. We have decided to upgrade to Studio 8.0. Even if it does not solve the MATLAB interface, we are now developing most our projects in .NET.

Thanks again,
Diane

Hi Diane,

I am glad that the card is working properly and you are able to successfully use it with Measurement Studio. It looks like you have found the examples, but just in case they should be located in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudioVS2003\DotNET\Examples\DAQmx. I strongly recommend that you use this environment instead of MATLAB to perform your data acquisition applications. Also, more examples are available on the web via the NI Developer Zone Example Code Library.

Regards,
Hal L.
