Why am I getting eval controls with licensed version of Measurement Studio?

I attempted to use the datasocket 4.0 and UI 7.0 control in Visual Basic 6. Both controls are labeled "Eval", and after 30 days, I got the "controls will work for 5 minutes" message. I have a licensed version of Measurement Studio and cannot understand why the contols are evaluation. I tried the ActiveX License Fixer Utility and no controls show up in ANY pane of the utility.

I have done the following:
1) Uninstalled Measurement Studio
2) unregistered the controls and nids.dll
3) Reinstalled Measurement Studio
4) Installed Measurement Studio on a new PC with no previuos NI software. The same issue occurs

Please see the Knowledge Base article "ActiveX Controls Evaluation Message Box Appears after Installing Measurement Studio" and see if the Measurement Studio License Fixer utility that is linked at the bottom helps to resolve this issue.

Hello,
At what step above did you try the License Fixer Utility? You must have Measurement Studio installed on the machine before running the utililty.

As i mentioned in my post, I have tried that License Fixer Utility and no controls show up as eval, licensed, corrupt, etc. The License Fixer Utility shows nothing.

I tried the utility after the 30 day eval period had ended.

Did you run the License Fixer Utility on the clean machine as well? What versions of these controls are on the clean machine? To get the version open the control's property pages on the VB form and go to the About tab. Please make sure that the Measurement Studio installer that you are running is not an evaluation installer. The license fixer utility does not work on the evaluation controls and that might be why it doesn't show anything.

I did run the License Fixer Utility on the clean machine. The datasocket control is version 4.1 (36). The UI control is version 7.0.0 (34)(602). Measurement Studio was installer from the licensed CD (Measurement Studio 7.0 Enterprise Installer). Still, nothing shows up in the License Fixer Utility pane on the clean machine.

kwd,

The reason that you are still seeing the evaluation message is that you have not yet installed licensed controls. You have Measurement Studio 7.0, which is for .NET and includes assemblies with UI controls and analysis functions for use with C# and VB.NET. However, since you have the enterprise edition, you should also have a second CD that says "Measurement Studio Enterprise Support for Visual Studio 6.0" and this is the CD that will install the ActiveX controls for use with VB6. Once you run through the install of this CD, you will then have a license copy of the Measurement Studio controls and if you still get the message, then run the license fixer one more time and you will see the appropriate controls. Please repost if you have any questions. Thanks and have a good one.
