aquiring analogue data

ive got a digitized signal coming in to the serial port on the PC. this is coming from custom built hardware. ive seen sum reference to NIVisa for reading in data. do i need any special hardware? what driversdo i need. id like to be able to continously plot this data. ive got the evaluation version for VB6.

Hello kalice,

Yes, you can use NI-VISA to read from and write to a serial port.  You would need to have NI-VISA, current version found here, and NI-Serial, current version found here, installed on that machine. 

These drives will also install examples on your machine.  The Serial Read is also a good example to try.
