Re-install Visual C++ problem

Due to a disk problem (needed to replace disk) I tried to un-install
VisualC but the uninstall failed. When I go to "Add/Remove Progs" it
shows an entry for "Visual Studio.net Baseline-English" with a "?" in
front of it and when I click on it it does not give a "change/remove"
option. If I start the install process it posts a message that
there is "a failed installation, press enter to remove". I press enter,
the program runs for a minute or less and says it completed. There is no
change in the status on the
"Add/Remove program" screen and if I start the install again it just
repeats the same
sequence.

Any help appreciated.

TIA, John

John,

You didn't say what version of Visual C++ you were trying to unistall/reinstall.  If it is Visual Studio 2003, I found the following support page on Microsoft's site.  On it you'll find instructions for manually uninstalling the .NET framework.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320112/

I'm not sure if this is the issue you are seeing or not, but since this issue is mostly Microsoft related, I'd recommend browsing their KnowledgeBases and help system to see if you can turn up any more information.

Good Luck!
