 Massive code  !!! no wonder why it is   hard understanding .... I will think    code be compacted in a module and  library functions  ... Maybe  I am  overReacting ...

 A good way to  understand  Understings in Embeded Programming ,  MUC Programming Experience will help.... Just a C Programming Experience will not be of any help .

Huh? I don't really understand. I guess this is a lack of my english skill. Anyway.

As far as I could understand you have trouble to accept the amount of code. Hehe. Yes, it is maybe a lot of code. But the example provided by NI is already "massive code". For me I don't have a problem with it, because it is hardware oriented progamming. At this level you do not necessarly use classes or higher c++ implementations.

As for the library. Yes, there is already a library in use.

I would have no clue how to reduce the code.
