"You can set up "virtual" channel names in MAX. For instance, you might define the name "MYCHANNEL" to map to "ANAL1" for the hp54645, and to "CH1" for the ag5462x. You would use the name "MYCHANNEL" in your application code, instead of the instrument specific channel names. Virtual names can be defined on the Driver Session's "Virtual Names" tab in MAX."

If you are using MAX 3.0 and have the latest IVI Driver MAX provider, there is a tab on each Driver Session called "Virtual Names" On this tab, you can set up virtual channel names and map them to the physical channel names. For each driver session that you want to use interchangeably, you would set up the same set of virtual names, but they would each have a different physical name to which they map.
