migrating legacy applications from VS 2003 / measurement studio on XP to VS2010 / measurement studio on Windows 7

What's the path for migrating legacy applications from VS 2003 / measurement studio on XP to VS2010 / measurement studio on Windows 7. I seem to be having issues, but would like to confirm first that I've been given the right software / instructions.

I realise that I can run my existing system in an XP virtual machine on Win 7, but I'd like to get completely up to date. I will need to target windows 7 laptops for new installations of my product. I also find I am unable to access a USB6218 daq card from the virtual machine.

Thanks

Hi Phil R,

Would you mind providing us with more information on what issues you are running into.  Also, are you trying to migrate source code or a built application?

trying to make sure I'm installing everything correctly first. Even NI support seem unsure so I was just asking if anyone has done this and what products and what order. Obviously I'm installing Visual Studio so its source code I'm migrating.

Hi Phil,

Assuming you are developing  in C++ using Visual Studio 2003 with Measurement Studio and are attempting to upgrade your code to Visual Studio 2010 with Measurement Studio 2010, you will need to request Measurement Studio C++ MFC Legacy Support R1 for Visual Studio 2010 by E-mailing mfcsupport@ni.com.  Once you receive support, please read the included readme which will contain detailed instructions on the upgrade process. For more information see: http://digital.ni.com/express.nsf/bycode/mfcsupport?opendocument&lang=en&node=seminar_US
