problem upgrading usb AI 9215 to 6009

I am substituting a  6009 AI/AO/DO USB device for a 9215 AI/AO device, using NIDAQmx V1.4 and VC++ 6.0.   If I make no software changes, the 6009 operates as the 9215 did, giving four AI inputs.

If I increase the number of inputs to 8,  adjusting appropriate parameters, the attempt to create a channel returns error -200077.

Can you tell me what this error means, and what steps I should try to fix it?

 Thank you

I needed to set the configuration to Referenced Single Ended to get more than 4 inputs.  I didn't realize that the default configuration would be differential.
