AC LVDT or DC LVDT

Hello, I am in need of an LVDT for position measurement. I am currently building a tensile tester. 

The LVDT needs to have speed and position control. I'm not sure what LVDT to go with and whether it should be AC or DC. 

Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Do you already have some NI hardware?  Is it PXI, SCXI, cDAQ etc? Your choice of LVDT may be influenced by the hardware you have available.  Here's a paper that talks about using LVDT's with NI hardware:

Have you looked at any models in particular?
