Clearing Following Error

I have a gantry system where I am using slave mode on X' while X finds home.
After "Home" is found, X' has significant following error which affects later moves when they are independtly controlled.

Is there a way to zero the following error programatically.

It seems that the only way to do it is to "Halt" the stage.  This leads to other problems.

I am using the 7.2 release on Win XP Pro  with a 7344 card.

Any help is appreciated.

Because the following error is there not only for accuracy, but also for protection of both the system and users, we do not allow the clearing of the following error while the system is moving.  The only way to clear it is to halt the motor.  There may be a work around for this, but it is not supported by National Instruemtents.

I want to clear it when the motor is not moving.

At the end of moves (especially homing while in slave mode), the motors are halted (still enabled, but not moving) with following error counts.

That is when I want to get rid of them.

Hi,

Have u tried setting the PID parameters in MAX. Also you can load them programmatically at instant of time. You can also try decreasing the acceleration and deceleration while homing. I had this problem of following error too and I did the above two steps to get rid of the problem. Hope it solves your problem.
