Hi,

the NI 7340 and NI 7350 product families are the direct successor products for the FlexMotion 6C. If you are explicitely looking for a 6-axis board, you should consider using a PCI-7356. The NI-Motion driver software is widely compatible to the FlexMotion driver software, so you should be able to reuse your code with minor modifications.

Please note, that the pinout of the 73xx devices is different than the pinout of the old FlexMotion boards, so you will have to change your cabling. Here you can find various interfacing options.

I hope that helps,

Hi

Facts:
i have third party program that use the old PCI flex motion 6C card to control 3 motors

i have no access to the source code only exe running with LV RT 6.0.2   6.1 and 7

i want to duplicate the controller PC with the flex motion 6C card

Questions:
1. can i buy flex motion 6C card ?

2. if not can we skeep the SW changes with other card and do only HW changes needed ?

3. if not and i will be able to get the source how dificult will it to convert it in LV 8.5 or 8.5.1 ?

thanks,

  1. The FlexMotion 6C is obsolete for many years now, so you can't order it anymore. Still you might ask your local NI branch, if they have access to an old board (maybe in their loaner pool). On the other hand this wouldn't be a new board, but a used one and I don't know it that's the way to go for you. At NI Germany we don't have such a board anymore.

  2. You could give it a try, but I wouldn't count on that.

  3. Updating LabVIEW code from LabVIEW 6.x to 8.x shouldn't be too hard, but it's hard to give a general answer for that. I wouldn't expect major issues with the motion part, but as I don't know the rest of the application, I don't want to sound too promising.

There is a little chance, that you could use your code without modifications, but upgrading to a newer version of LabVIEW should be your alternative plan.
