Connecting encoder counts, from a printer feed motor encoder, into an MID7604 driver

HI,

I am doing a final year project and was wondering can i connect encoder counts, from a printer feed motor encoder, into an MID7604 driver and use the counts in a program to drive a seperate stepper motor , (in a master slave situation). I have a PXI 7344.

any help is great thanks

Hi Shovels21,

I would expect that it is possible. Essentially you are just connecting a trigger signal to the program and getting the motor to react to the signals it receives, where the signal is from shouldn’t matter. You can see where to connect the output of the printer feed motor encoder dependant on what its output type is, in the User Guide attached. I believe Figure 11 on page 16 will be of particular help.

As for the programming, have a look at the soft motion examples installed with your toolkit. The examples are located in labview\examples\motion\SoftMotion. You can modify an example VI to fit your application, or you can copy and paste from one or more examples into a VI that you create.

Hope this helps.
