Controlling a pump using myRio analog output

Hi,

I want to control the speed of a water pump (12V), I am planning to use Ni myRio which has 10V AO pin and I don’t need the pump to operate at its maximum speed

Is that possible?

Or what other setup can be used for this problem?

Hello Sohaila_s,

Could you provide a datasheet of the water pump? What are the speeds that you want to control?

I didn't find a datasheet but I attached a photo of the pump which written on it its specifications

what I want to control is the speed of the pump which is the amount of water flow

Hello Sohaila_s,

You are going to need some outside circuitry to power your pump. While the AO pin on the myRIO may have enough voltage it does not have enough current to run your pump. I will need the datasheet of the pump to get a better idea of what you need.

this page has all the specification of the pump:  http://www.seaflo.com/en-us/product/detail/604.html#product-info

will it be possible if I use a current amplifier?

Hello Sohaila_s,

I wouldn't suggest using the AO pins from the myRIO instead, I would use the DIO/PWM pin with a motor driver to control your pump. Sparkfun has a some on their site that you could try, but you will have to make sure that it fits within your pumps specs.
