Controlling stepper motors with NI PCI 7330

Hi

I have a NI PCI 7334 motion controller card and MID 7604 motor driver and NI motion software (which was provided with the controller card)with Labview 7.1. I have two,1.8 degree, 2 phase stepper motors which is compatible with the driver (oriental motor PK series).

I require to drive these two stepper motors simultaneously and in synchronism with each other. They need to be rotated (clockwise)a certain multiples of 1.8 degree ( which should be able to be varied) in a few seconds and pause for an interval of two minuites ( this value should be able to be varied) and then rotate(clockwise) again to the pre defined angle and pause again and so forth till the user presses the stop button.

I am new to stepper motors, controllers and the associate VI's with this. I would appreciate if someone can help me out on how to develop a labview programme for this application.

Thanks

Mal

Hi Mal,

There are some good getting started resources, which will probably be the best place to start if you are new to all of this. Check out the following links:

Getting Started with NI-Motion for NI 73xx Motion Controllers
http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/D512386E60CA8ADF862570AF0076894A

NI-Motion User Manual
http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/983F38925A4F0D16862570AD0054C641

There is also a great resource on the Developer Library at ni.com which gives lots of tutorials and examples for Motion applications
http://zone.ni.com/devzone/devzone.nsf/webcategories/69771825AE23E98E86256786000BEA02

The other place to look would be the LabVIEW example finder, there should be Motion examples installed here which should give you a working starting point.

I hope this helps
