DC servo motor position control

Hi

I am a college student doing a project that envolves DC servo motor position control. I am using Labview 7 and I have the required DAQ card in the computer. I am just looking for some help with regards to wiring up the motor. the motor has a built in encoder and tacho. I am also looking for help with the program as well as I have only a basic limited knowledge of labview

Hi,

With regards to your wiring questions, what DAQ card are you using and what inputs/outputs does your servo motor have.
You may find the following link useful with regards to programming under LabVIEW for servo motors: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/396

All the best,

I am using a PCI 7344 DAQ and I also have a UMI 7764. On the motor itself, there is a motor+,motor-, tacho+,Tacho-, and there is also an encoder with 10pins coming off it. the 10 pins are as follows: 1 - NC, 2 - Vcc(+5v),3 - GND, 4 - NC, 5 - A-, 6 - A, 7 - B-, 8 - B, 9 - I- (Index),10 - I(Index). I also have an amplifier that I will use to up the voltage for the motor.

Hi,

Chapter 5 of this link http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/370838a.pdf goes over the connections fairly in depth and should be of use to you.

All the best,
