Detecting motion hardware in labview...

Hi All!

Been programming with labview for a year now... Got to grips with using DAQ hardware, and now my next frontier is motion.
The problem is, Its eazy for me to detect available DAQ cards by using the DAQ system property node (giving me all the stats).... was just wondering if something similar exists for motion hardware? Some info would be awesome Smiley Wink

Toodles...

Hi ANT,

There currently is not an equivalent property node for Motion.  I would suggest submitting a product suggestion on our website to include this feature for our NI-Motion software.  In the mean time, you can create a VI that will perform a similar task in LabVIEW.  Unlike DAQ which pass a task, the Motion VIs pass the Board ID, therefore you can set up a program to initialize IDs 1-20, for example (or as many as you expect to have on your PC).  The board IDs that give you an error (i.e. they are not available) you can ignore and then generate a list of the devices that are present.  I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Vu
