Digital output on UMI

Hi,
I have an UMI-7774 connected to a PXI-7358 controller and I want to generate two digital outputs.
From UMI user guide, I've understood that I have to use the second port of the controller, so I connected my device to pins 8 and 21 of UMI's digital I/O connector and I've set active lines 0 and 1 of digital Port 2 (Axis 2).
Nothing happened, but I discovered that I can send the output when setting active the lines 3 and 4 of Port 2.
Why ?
Which is the correspondence between the lines of the controller's digital ports and the UMI's digital lines ?
Thanks,
Tom

Hello Tom,

I can confirm for you that Bit 0 of Port 2 under Axis 2 does correspond to Digital Output 0, pin 8 on the UMI 7774.  Please check that you have all of the following in place:

1.  Both the Motion I/O and Digital I/O cables connected.
2.  Make sure that you have connected all power inputs (V, C, Viso, and Ciso).  For test purposes, you can tie together V and Viso as well as C and Ciso.
3.  Make sure the V and Viso lights LED status lights are on.
4.  Make sure the Inhibit All, Interlock, and all the Axis 1-4 Disabled LED status lights are off.

Then, use a handheld DMM to measure the potential difference between pins 8 and 18.  You should be able to measure 24 Volts when you specify an active output state and 0 V when you specify the output state as inactive.

Try resetting your motion controller if you do not observe this behavior.  If the problem still persists, I suggest you call our technical support number and ask to speak with an Applications Engineer in the Vision and Motion group.  The number is 1-866-275-6964.

Best Regards,
T. McCarty
