Do I need more hardware to connect a dc motor to labview via CAN?

Hi,

I have a current setup with a Dunkermotoren BG75CI connected to NI-9171 and NI-9234.

I have connecting between MAX and NI-9234 but now I need connection between Labview and the dc motor to be able to control it the way I want.

I wish to control the motor via CAN.The motor has a CAN-interface.

My question is, do I need any further hardware from NI to get connection between the motor and MAX/Labview so I can start to

write my program?

Best regards

Andechr

You probably need a CAN interface to communicate with your motor. What CAN protocol are you using. The NI USB-8473 uses regular CAN and there are C series module as well for CAN communication as well. But you might be better off with a 9174 then with more slots than 1 as you already filled this up with your DSA board (9234).
