How to control a DC Brushless Motor using CompactRIO

I'm thinking of building controlling a DC Brushless thruster using compactRIO.the specifications of the thrusters including the input/voltage supply is 24VDC(36A). In addition to the main power, the thruster requires isolated 12VDC power and a +/-5V analog speed and direction control signal. It is available with the RS232 input controller as well. I udnerstand that CompactRIO modules is available for DC Brushed Motor. How about for DC BRUSHLESS motor? How can we cotnrol it by usign compactRIO. please advice.

I think you have read about the NI 9505 module which can drive directly a brushed servo motor. NI currently doesn't provide a drive module for brushless motors but in your case I think you are not looking for a drive module but for a module that can output the +/- 5 V control signal. If I understand you correctly the thruster comes with an external drive so you need a general purpose analog output module like the NI 9263.

To simplify programming, please have a look at the NI Softmotion Development module.

For a complete system consulting I would recommend to contact your local NI sales representative.

Thank you for your reply and advice. That really help me much since I am in a beginner level. Myself,at first place do not really clear with what I need to do with the thruster, but with your information, I become clearer and know what exactly I need to do. Thank you so much Sir.
