Marco,
there are multiple use cases for the 73xx boards. E. g. one of our customers is building huge waterjet cutting machines. The cutting traverse is almost 3 m wide. That's why there are two motors at each side of the traverse. One is working as the master, the other one is following in a 1:-1 ratio, as both axes need to be synchronized tightly.
There are also lots of high-precision applications out there, where NI-Motion is synchronized to data acquisition or imaging via the RTSI trigger bus.
