Is a Valuemotion PCI Step 4OX card compatible with Windows 2000 OS

I am trying to upgrade our old hardware to a new 2.4GHhz IBM, Windows 2000 Professional, computer. The old hardware ran well on a 400Mhz, Windows NT computer. I reason for the up grade is the reliability of the old computer.
The hardware is: PCI-1200, PCI-DIO-96, PCI-Step-4OX

I have installed on the new Windows 2000 computer the following software: Labview 5.1,NI-DAQ 6.6, NI-488.2 1.70, Valuemotion 5.0.2.

The PCI-1200 and the PCI-DIO-96 cards are initialized and responsive, however, when trying to initialize the PCI-Step-4OX card the following error message occurs "70001 (NIMC_ready To Receive Timeout Error)"

The error code suggests contacting National Instruments if it persists.

Please help.

Thanks, Elliot

Hi Elliot,

I have used a Valuemotion PCI Step 40X card in a computer with:
Windows 2000 SP4
1 GHz Processor
256 MB RAM
The card was detected and initializes with out any errors.

With that being said, I would think the card would work in your PC as well. Some possible issues are:
1) Corrupted Drivers. Try removing the PCI Step card, uninstall the drivers, reinstall the drivers, and then place the PCI Step card back into your computer.
2) The card could have been damaged since it was last used. Try placing the card back in the original computer and check to make sure it still works.
3) The ValueMotion 5.0.2 driver was released almost 5 years ago. When it was released, processors did not have hyper-threading. This could be causing issues, so if you are using hyper-threading, try disabling it.

Ryan,
I found that my PCI Step 4OX card has a problem, it is not recognized by the plug-n-play application in the new or old computer. I have another card of the same type and it works fine. Thanks for your help. Elliot
