MID-7654/7652 driving low inductance motors

Hi friends,
I am trying to drive a low inductance motor (Kollmorgen Servodisc L<45uH) with the MID-7654/7652. I set the motor inductance level DIP switch of the MID to the "low motor inductance" position (110-440uH). The motor run but becomes too hot quickly and the continuous current is over (5.5Amp) the max limit of the MID (5.0Amp). It is possible to add external inductance to the system to compensate the motor low inductance? What type of? Who sell/manufacture it?

It is common practice to add external inductors to a motor to reduce ripple current and heating. Higher inductance values will provide lower ripple but also slower motor response times. This is the tradeoff.

There are many companies that sell inductors. Here are a couple links that will help get you started.
