When I try to initialize a PCI-7340 motion controller board using MAC (v4.5.0f0), I recieve the following error at Progress = 6%:
********************
Initialization Status...
-70095 (NIMC_DSPCommunicationsTimeoutError)
Internal error. There was an internal timeout while sending commands to the DSP.
******************
Is this something I can fix in software, or is this a hardware problem?
Thanks

Hi Biologist48,
I believe this KnowledgeBase article will help you out: Error -70095 (NIMC_DSPCommunicationsTimeoutError) and Error -70052 (NIMC_FPGAProgramError). Update your Motion driver and that should do the trick.
Let us know if that works out.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't seem to help. I am currently using NI-Motion 7.6 and the executable patch says it only works with v 6.2/
BTW, I recently upgraded the firmware on the PCI-7340. Since this is a brand new project, I/m not sure if the problem occurred before the firmware upgrade or after.
Here is the current firmware versions according to MAX:
68331 Firmware 7.40.3001
DSP Firmware 7.30.3001
FPGA1 Firmware 7.00.3001
FPGA2 Firmware 7.00.3001
Thanks

Hi Biologist48,
If the update did not work, I have a couple other questions:
Did this card ever work since you first received it? Also, do you have another board that you could swap in to see if you're still getting that error?

Hi Jeff!
As I tried to say in an earlier posting, this is a brand new setup and I'm not really sure my PCI-7340 ever worked. I have ordered a second board (a PCI-7332) which I had hope work arrive today (Friday) but it looks more like next Monday or Tuesday. As soon as the second board arrives, I'll swap it in and see if there is still a problem.
Thanks for your help!

Hi Jeff!
The NI Motion card (PCI-7330) arrived today. After I installed it, it asked me to upgrade the firmware, which I did. After the firmware loaded sucessfully, I initialized the new without any errors.
This leads me to think think my original board (PCI-7340) might be bad. 😞
Thanks for your help!

Ok, I would recommend calling in to NI Support. Let the customer service rep know it is a potential repair on your board and give them the model. You'll be redirected to the Applications department.
