Newbie: Where is 'Motion Complete.vi'?

Greetings,

I inherited an LV7 application that whines about not finding 'Motion complete.vi' when loading.  Initially I assumed the missing vi was written by the previous owner, but some digging indicated it is/was contained in a LV library. After scanning the Web and the NI site for hints, it appears that using 'Wait for Move Complete.flx' is the hot setup, but I'm confused about the relationship between the two.  Did 'Wait ...' replace 'Motion...'?  Can I still find and use Motion Complete.vi?  Are '.flx' files just another name for libraries?

I'd be glad to supply any additional info that might be useful.  Thanks for your help.

Regards,
John

John,

I have searched the motion control libraries back to version 4.x but this vi is nowhere present. This and the fact that I don't know this vi (I'm working with NI Motion for 9 years now) makes me pretty sure that 'Motion complete.vi' is not an NI-Motion/FlexMotion vi from NI but a vi built by your antecessor. You should use 'Check Move Complete Status.flx' or 'Wait for Move Complete.flx' instead.

Hello Jochen,

Thanks for that information; it was useful.  I think you must be correct, the 'Motion Complete.vi' must have been written by the author of the system.  He probably tucked it away in a user library so it's not immediately visible to Windows Explorer search tools. I'd like to see how it's built so I can update it if necessary.

Best regards,
John
