Hello William,
If you are using the stepper motors in open loop mode, that would explain why you're not getting errors. Since in open loop the board does not look for feedback, it will simply output the pulses and assume that the motor is working. To the software and motion board, everything is working fine.
Since it doesn't seem like the board or software is at fault, you may want to take a look at some of your connections.
1. Make sure the UMI is connected to the motion port of the PCI-7344. Even though this seems trivial, I have seen many people plug the cable into the digital port by accident. This is very possible since they both use the same cable.
2. Make sure the drive is enabled. The drive may be disabled because of the inhibit lin
es are low instead of high, etc. If the drive has LED's, look to see if any of them are indicating that the drive has been killed.
3. You may want to get a high speed oscilliscope and monitor the output of the steps coming out of the UMI. When you attempt to do a move, you should see discrete steps being sent. If you see the steps, you know that the issue is with the motor or the drive. If you do not see the steps, you can concentrate on troubleshooting the UMI, motion board, or software.
Good luck!
