I am trying to see if anyone has connected a 7344 PCI motion controller to a 3400 series Pacific Scientific servo drive. I am planning on using motors with encoders, and the simulated encoder output from the drive to go to the controller. If anyone has already done this and could email me .dwg files or some type of connection diagrams, I would appreciate it?

Yes we have, Pacific Scientific is part of our motion partnership program and their drives have been tested with out controller. First of all you will need to connect your 7344 controller to the UMI 7764 breakout box. From there to the driver you have to do the following connections (using axis 1 as example):

1. UMI-7764 PacSci 3400


2. {AOut1 -> Analog Command +


3. {AOGnd1 -> Analog Command -


4. {InhOut1- -> Enable Input


5. {EncA1 -> Encoder Out Chnl A


6. {EncA1- -> Encoder Out Chnl A-


7. {EncB1 -> Encoder Out Chnl B


8. {EncB1- -> Encoder Out Chnl B-


9. {Index1 -> Encoder Out Chnl Z


10. {Index1- -> Encoder Out Chnl Z-
